Interested in joining the Buffalo Wind Symphony?
If you are an advanced musician and interested in becoming a member of our Band, or interested in knowing more about us, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you. Some important background information:
- There must be a need for your instrument. We strive for a balanced sound and instrumentation. We do need to replace members or seek substitutions from time to time, so please contact us.
- There is no audition. However, we do evaluate everyone’s ability and they are placed on a “provisional” status before becoming officially seated. Section placement is determined ultimately by the Music Director.
- Your proficiency should meet the needs of the music. Our concert music is selected from Grades 4–6 music categories, so prospective musicians should be comfortable performing at a NYS Grade 5 music level.
- Attendance is importance for our success. Prospective musicians need to understand that we do rehearse and perform throughout the year (rehearsals on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., with concerts scheduled accordingly).
- We are mostly grown-ups but very inclusive. Although we are an adult, all-volunteer community music organization, we do allow talented high school musicians who would like to participate.
