Marta Riordan (d. 2024)

Marta Riordan was a long-time member of the Buffalo Wind Symphony, having served as Flute Section Leader and poster/program creator while also playing with smaller community ensembles.  Concert music was but one of the many outlets for Marta’s formidable artistic talents.  Throughout her life, Marta enjoyed photography, graphic design, drawing, painting, and writing.  She also enjoyed reading, travel, sports, movies, and nature in all its wonders, and animals in all their sweetness and nobility.

Marta grew up in Williamsville and graduated with honors from Williamsville East HS and the University of Dayton (OH), where she earned a B.A. degree in English. She retired after a distinguished career as a Revenue Officer and Field Group Manager with Internal Revenue Service in Chicago, Rochester, and Buffalo.

To her family and friends, Marta was a beloved daughter, sister, auntie, and confidant.  Marta left us in 2024 after a long and brave battle with cancer.  For all those whose lives were touched by Marta, she will be forever missed.
